ROCK-IT’S FOR 5-7 YEARS

Rock-it classes run most Saturdays from 1000 -1100hrs, simply book on-line below.

 

Ratio:1:6

Duration:1 hour

Cost: £6.50 & VAT per class payable termly in advance

This term (until July) will be a total of 11 sessions (£71.50 & VAT)

 

Session dates are:

28th April 2018

5th, 12th, 19th May 2018

9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th June 2018

7th, 14th, 21st July 2018

 

Next academic year, clubs will start on 8th September 2018.

At the Adur Centre we actively encourage children to have fun whilst learning about the basics of climbing in a safe and secure environment. These sessions are for 5-7 year olds focusing around movement and fun on the wall and not so much about getting to the top, although that’s fun too! All participants will receive an attendance certificate at end of the term.

ROCK HOPPERS   FOR 8-11 YRS

Rock Hoppers run most Saturdays 1200 – 1330hrs

 

Rock Hoppers is our junior climbing club; which follows The National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS) syllabus. NICAS is a UK wide scheme designed to promote climbing development and accredit achievement on artificial climbing structures and is open to children aged 8 years and above. The Adur Centre can offer the first four levels which offer progressive technical skill and responsibility.

 

As well as weekly climbing sessions there are options for a 5-day camp every summer and climbing trips overseas. Participants purchase a log book and pay a one off registration fee for level 3-4 to monitor their ongoing progress.

Rock Stars for 11-16 yrs

Rock Stars runs most Saturday afternoons 1500 – 1630hrs.

 

Rock Stars is our Youth climbing group; which continues on the path toward the  National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme. NICAS is a UK wide scheme designed to promote climbing development and accredit achievement on artificial  climbing  structures  and  is  open  to children aged 8 years and above. The Adur Centre can offer the first four levels which offer progressive technical skill and responsibility.

 

As well as weekly climbing sessions there are options for entering local and national competitions, along with climbing trips to outdoor venues such as Harrisons Rocks, Swanage and the Peak District and climbing trips overseas.  Participants purchase a log book and pay a one off registration fee for level 3-4 to monitor their ongoing progress.

Adult Beginners

Indoor climbing is one of the UK fastest growing sports (Sport England Active People Survey 2016), and is also the newest Olympic Sport to be seen at the 2020 Games in Tokyo. Now is a great time to take up the sport! Whether you want to learn for the first time or just need to refresher to get back in the swing, this is a great chance to learn the ropes from our experienced staff.

 

A four week course designed around what you want to get out from your time.

Duration: 1½ hours

Cost: £10.50 & VAT per class payable in advance

Learn to Climb (16+) sessions

Tuesday Evening 1830-2030hrs.

Climbing is a great way to socialize and keep fit at the same time. These sessions are designed for adults (16+) who want to learn to climbs. We will cover all the basic skills to you need to be independent climbers.

Cost: £9.00 per person

Please note the Adur Centre is an unsupervised facility (unless tuition and training have been booked and paid for in advance) and accepts no liability for injury sustained due to the unsafe behavior of others.

 

The BMC participation statement is very clear; it should be read and understood by all users of the centre:

 

“The British Mountaineering Council recognises that climbing, hill walking and

mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death.

Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be

responsible for their own actions and involvement.”

What to wear?

Loose clothing: T-Shirt, Leggings, Jogging Bottoms or Shorts.

Trainers or specialist climbing shoes (No open toed or slip on shoes).

Climbing shoes can be hired at the centre.

All sessions are delivered by our highly experienced and qualified team of instructors.
